Jodi Sax Jodi Sax is an entertainment, intellectual property and new media attorney specializing in copyright and trademark issues, licensing, contractual negotiation, production legal work for film and television and business consulting for new models of media distribution. She represents clients ranging from small, independent record labels and Internet start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Jodi attended UC Berkeley and UCLA, from which she holds a B.A. in design, and graduated with honors from Loyola of Los Angeles Law School in 1992, where she served as Articles Editor on Loyola Law Review.
In conjunction with her law practice, Jodi is a frequent industry speaker on Intellectual Property law and new media. In 1997, Jodi expanded her presence onto the internet, where she is the creator, author and webmistress of Lawgirl.com (http://www.lawgirl.com), an interactive legal resource for those in the arts and entertainment, recently sited by "New York Lawyer" as one of the 20 best legal sites on the Internet.
Since its inception, Lawgirl.com has received critical acclaim, including being named "Cool Site of the Day" its first day online. Since that time, Lawgirl.com has received more than thirty awards, and has been profiled in on and offline publications, including Netscape's "What's New on the Internet," NetGuide, The Web Magazine, USA Today, Tripod, The National Law Journal, The San Francisco Recorder, Austin CitySearch, Access Magazine, The Village Voice and the Houston Chronicle Interactive Edition and The New York Daily News.
In connection with her law practice, Jodi has been a featured commentator on CBS' "The Wild, Wild, Web," and ZDTV's "Internet Tonight," speaking about her website and legal issues germane to the Internet. Jodi was also a regular speaker at Miller Freeman's Web Design and Development Conference series throughout the United States, and has spoken on panels at several music and media conventions around the world, including South by Southwest, CMJ and DDMI Europe.
In her spare time, Jodi writes. She is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities Grant for an original literary project, and has taken classes through UCLA’s screenwriter's program. Jodi has written extensively about media and the law, and is presently writing a book about entertainment law in a world gone wired as a companion to her website. She hopes that it will be entertaining.
