miss jodi goes to washington?

what's life like when you can't read?

LVA logoIn case any of you were wondering, the sole reason for my being in Washington last week was not to hang out with the Promise Keepers. Rather, I had the privilege ofbeing a member of a West Coast design team and taking part in the Cool Site in a Day Contest to design a site for Literacy Volunteers of America's Washington D.C. branch.

And yes, the West Coasters won, but more than half the fun was in getting there. For one, I got to work with the greatest guys imaginable: Our fearless leader, Derek Powazek, as well as fellow team-members Patrick Corcoran, Paul Schrank and Michael Sippey. These gentlemen are such pros, they made me feel like a rank amateur, but they welcomed me with open arms and we were able to create a great site for a great cause. And all in a day!

I also got to meet a lot of swell people, whom I otherwise probably never would have gotten to meet (at least in three dimensions as opposed to e-mail). Among them: Leslie Harpold, Drue Miller, that festive boy from Regarding.com whose name I don't think I ever knew, and those super-cute guys from Cool Site of the Day.

In addition to all of the designy fun, we drink a lot of Cosmopolitans, and got to see the sites in Washington. All in all, a thoroughly great trip.So if you're in the mood, stop by the new LVA site and consider becoming involved with this worthy organization.
