obligations to musicians appearing on your CD

I recently recorded an album with 5 individuals. The group was a collective. We received some money to do a performance, and with that money recorded a CD. No contracts were signed. One member has decided he no longer wishes to be part of the group. The other 4 of us have continued putting money into producing the CD and hope to self-release it.
What are our obligations to the member of the group that dropped out of the project, but is still on the CD? We expect to make little, if any money from selling this CD, what do we legally owe him?
